Wildlife Conservation and the Environment

ASN/CSW Conservation Issues Exploration

As sportsmen, wildlife conservation and the environment are issues near and dear to us. So much so that the bumper sticker saying, "Most of my life I spent hunting and fishing, the rest of it I wasted," humorously strikes a central fiber within our souls. We also live in a time when completely opposite accounts of the state of the planet and all things on it are being presented as the truth. One side says things are going fast and unless we put our trust, and money, in the hands of the wise we will surely perish. And soon!! The other side says that many problems are exaggerated and as problems are found and understood we can solve them.

At American Sportsman Network we want to do the right thing, but we also know there cannot be contradictory truths. We know there are environmental problems that need solutions, but we believe we can fix them without sacrificing our traditional American values. By referring to the organizations linked to this site, you access thought-provoking work that often shows another side of the issues. These organizations do a great deal of work that doesn't reach public attention. It is often buried in the popular media by the sensational crises of the day.

The organizations linked to this site approach environmental and conservation problems from the traditional and uniquely American perspective. They recognize the principles of individual liberty, the free market and personal property rights. They hold that government's central purpose is to protect these same rights and institutions. They act on these principles and demonstrate that environmental problems not only can be solved, but are best solved by individuals and organizations working voluntarily. They solve problems through the flexible mechanisms found in a free society rather than exerting force to compel a consensus vision.

Please visit these organizations . We hope you will find it a worthy educational and reference resource and will want to join with one or more organizations that address issues of most interest to you. Together we believe we can protect our natural resources along with our economy, our freedom and our American outdoor tradition.
